Home History of U Homecoming

Welcome home, Utah.

For over a century, Homecoming has been the University of Utah's tradition to bring alumni, students, and the community together to celebrate our shared pride and legacy.

In 1923, the U first welcomed back its former students for a weekend reunion. Since then, Homecoming has grown into a weeklong celebration filled with events like the Swoop Sprint, Songfest, and a highly anticipated football game at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

From parades down University Street to crowning royalty, to painting the town red to lighting up the Block U, generations of Utahns come together to honor the past and celebrate the future.

This year we celebrate 175 years of University of Utah memories made on the hill. We honor the students who shaped our traditions, the alumni who carried them forward, and the community that continues to make Homecoming a vibrant and meaningful experience.

Whether you're a freshman just starting your journey, a proud alum returning to your roots, or somewhere in between—Homecoming is for you.
